And he takes seriously the outward migration of our species
from our home planet and the changes it portends. Other civilizations
will emerge from mists of rumor and confusion and occupy the foreground
of our awareness. Identity will continue to be impacted, changing
the definition of what it means to be human at a faster and faster
pace. Already we are cyborgs, running on plastic joints, putting
implants into our heads and hearts, augmenting and enhancing our
capacities. This is the last generation on earth to be merely born,
not made. Our relationship to technology is symbiotic, flesh into
steel, chips into brains. New possibilities are continually disclosed
and enabled.
But which ones shall we choose? Which should we choose? What will
our choices mean for society and culture?
What will they mean … for
you?
Richard Thieme explores these issues with depth, insight, humor
and personality through speeches and workshops and in his writing.
People respond:
“You really made me think.” Or, “Your ability
to move people out of their comfort zone is a remarkable talent
to have.” Or, “It was inspiring to see a thousand geeks
mesmerized without a single multimedia prop in sight.”
Richard mostly delivers
keynotes and closing speeches that unite the diverse themes of
a conference. His presentations are exciting, empowering, mind-expanding,
entertaining He has spoken for as few as five at a breakfast
and as many as six thousand. He has spoken in Sydney and Brisbane
multiple times, Dublin and London, Amsterdam and The Hague, Israel,
and all around the United States. Why? Because he loves to do
it. He loves to make a difference, learn more than he teaches
at every venue, and enjoy the people he meets around the world.
If he doesn’t think those conditions will be met,
he doesn’t go.
